Today's bento boxes are Shaun the sheep and Naruto with deep fried prawns and bread crumbs. I made Shaun from a print out and free hand cut the cloud for his hair and his eyes from chedar cheese. I've also free hand drawn and cut Naruto face (Chedar cheese) and hair (fried eggs..though its not yellow enough the way I wanted to be).
Oh as you can see I just bought new lunch boxes for my cousins, they love them as they get to show off their lunch boxes to their friends at lunch time.

Hey guys,
Just a quick note today, The Lunch Punch cutters are still for sale if you are still interested, I have more of them coming.
While I'm on the cutters topic, I went to Aldi store today and bought myself some cookie cutters. I don't have a lot of these cutters and also in Australia we don't have a lot of stuff that are bento related just whatever can be substituted.
These are only $10 for 30 pieces of assorted cutters and it comes with a tin.

I was press for time last Friday to pack lunches for my cousins for school and I didn't get to go grocery shopping (I went after that hehehe ) and I only have cans of tuna, mayo, 2 slices of cheese and bread left (hmm no fruit or vegetable left either :( I know ). So I've made what's left and test my new sandwich cutters from "The Lunch Punch" and I have to say I'm loving it!

Hello there,
Back again for another post, this week the kids get all the same theme, so I only took one of the bento box pic. The bear are made from soy sauce rice coated with bonito flakes and cheese for the ears and nose. I have stir fried beef with oyster sauce and onions as side dish. The flowers are made from cocktail Frankfurt.
Enjoy & Happy bentoing :-)

I finally get to make my very first ever bento boxes. I had to make three because I have three little cousins. I've decided that I'll make them once or twice every week as a special treat.
My aunty told me that my cousin's lunch usually does not get eaten, but they prefered to buy something from the canteen, so hopefully this will help get them to eat their lunch.
Sports balls bento box - Stuffed rice balls with saute pork mince. I've used tomato sauce for the colour.
Tigers Bento Box - Since I'm making these bento at the same time I've decided that they will all have the same stuffing (hehe that's what we had for dinner)
I've also coloured the tigers in tomato sauce and add some fried fish eggs for tiny side dish.
Two little pigs - It was a challenge when I've tried to colour the pigs using boiled red cabbage with a dash of vinegar, the colour before added to the rice was pink, but when I've added to the rice it didn't turn out to be very pink and the rice tasted a wee bit sour (but my lil cousin didn't notice it :p). I've also had some trouble with the cheese as I use the large straws to make the noses and ears, it keeps breaking and the cheese stuck inside the straws. Anyway it took a while but i finally got it right.
Well the verdicts? it was a hit, nothing left in the three lunch boxes and there's requests for more.
I am going to sign out now and will attempt more bento next week.
PS: I've got all the inspiration from the "
yum-yum Bento box" book and the
website.
Happy bentoing :) Hieng G

Hoo ray my very first bento books has arrived. I've decided to buy a few books while i'm in the bento mood. I've got these books from fishpond as they deliver them for free (in Australia) if you spend over a certain amount on books, DVDs or toys and their "prices are better than AmazonTM. Guaranteed.." I will post a review on the books later, so for now here are the list (excuse the pics):
Kawaii Bento Boxes: cute Japanese Meals on the go
Bento Love: Easy Japanese cooking by Kentaro Kobayashi
That's it for now! phew now that the books are here, I've got to get bento making going! Soon..

Yay and wow, this is my very first post for the blog.
This bog will be a place for me to post and writes about everything and anything that's bento related and may be some other stuffs as well.
I fell in love with bento when I was pregnant with my son and started to collect bento stuffs.
I am yet to make my very first (cute) bento. When that time comes I will post it here.
My hope from writting this blog I can find many friends who has the same interest in bentoing.
